plural noun: scintillae
Black and white creations of moving ink and water and refracted light are captured in high resolution through slow exposure. Fractured and fragmented, an abstraction of memory, or object in transition from one state to another, with just an imprint of something left behind. These pieces are like a spark of an idea or flash of memory, something impossible to grasp onto for more than a few moments, but which leaves a trace that imprints itself onto the retina, or the memory, or the soul.
The artist or image maker is simply actioning the process and capturing the outcome of experimentation. It’s an abstraction of self as much as an articulation of expressionism.
